Background
Dr. Wang was born in the Philippine Islands and immigrated to the United States at a young age. He spent his middle school and high school years in Tallahassee, Florida. Dr. Wang holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Florida and graduated from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry. Upon graduation from optometry school, he accepted a commission as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy Medical Service Corps.

During his tenure in the United States Navy, Dr. Wang served as a staff optometrist at the Branch Medical Clinic at Naval Air Station, Oceana in Virginia Beach, Virginia where he had the opportunity to become familiar with the unique visual demands in aviation. In addition, he also worked as a staff optometrist at the Refractive Surgery Center at Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth where he was an integral part of a team of providers that ensured the pre-operative and post-operative success of hundreds of refractive surgical cases in the Navy. Dr. Wang also had the privilege of serving his country while deployed in Kuwait as the only military eyecare provider in the whole Kuwaiti theater of operations during Operation Iraqi Freedom II.
At the Practice
Following his tenure at the Branch Medical Clinic at NAS Oceana, Dr. Wang resigned his commission and joined the team of doctors at Coastal Vision. With licenses to practice optometry in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the state of Florida, Dr. Wang provides comprehensive eyecare with special interests in ocular disease, glaucoma, sports vision, and aviation vision.
Personal Life
Dr. Wang, his wife, and three children live in Virginia Beach and are active members at their church. He enjoys spending time outdoors playing tennis, basketball, swimming, hiking and camping.
